The Program Business Professional (PBP) designation is a new credential for program insurance professionals created through a collaboration between the Target Markets Program Administrators Association (TMPAA) and The Institutes Knowledge Group. This designation will be officially unveiled in May at the upcoming TMPAA semi-annual meeting on May 14, replacing the current TMPAA Certified Programs Leader (CPL) designation. The PBP designation program is a blend of program business-specific content and educational courses from The Institutes’ CPCU designation program, offering professionals the opportunity to advance their program business careers while earning credit toward additional Institute designations.
The PBP program will consist of four courses and an exam along with ethical requirements. These courses will also qualify for Continuing Education (CE) credits. Gene Abbey, TMPAA director of insurance education and services, said that the PBP designation aims to raise standards of excellence within the program business sector and align with the evolving program business landscape. He emphasized that this was an opportunity to provide even greater value to industry professionals through collaboration with The Institutes.
Adam Carmichael, CPCU, President of The Institutes Knowledge Group highlighted the commitment to providing industry professionals with a state-of-the-art and comprehensive educational platform through the development and launch of the PBP designation. This marks a significant milestone in the industry, showcasing their dedication to providing knowledge and skills needed for success in program business.
