Ravens RB JK Dobbins Returns to the Gridiron with Chargers after Four Seasons on Injured Reserve

The Los Angeles Chargers have signed running back JK Dobbins to a one-year contract, LAA Sports confirmed. This move comes after Dobbins spent four seasons with the Baltimore Ravens and will now head to the West Coast to join his new team at SoFi Stadium. Notably, he will be reunited with his former offensive coordinator Greg Roman, who will serve in the same role with the Chargers.

Unfortunately, Dobbins faced setbacks last season due to injuries. He played just the first week before going down with an Achilles injury, which led to him being placed on injured reserve. Additionally, he missed the entire 2021 season after tearing his ACL in a preseason game. Despite these challenges, Dobbins showed his talent on the field with 1,347 rushing yards, 12 rushing touchdowns, 27 receptions for 177 receiving yards and one touchdown in the air in his career.

The Chargers are looking to improve their rushing game after struggling last season. They ranked 25th in rushing yards, had one of the lowest yards per carry averages and lacked touchdowns in yards. Their offense as a whole has struggled prompting a need for more options to back up quarterback Justin Herbert. With new head coach Jim Harbaugh leading the team, the Chargers are focused on making necessary changes and improvements for the upcoming season.
