Rebuilding Together: Tkuma Directorate Announces $1.5 Billion for West Negev Settlements Reconstruction following Devastating Attacks

In response to the recent attacks on West Negev settlements, the Tkuma Directorate has announced a project to rebuild the affected communities. The ten hardest-hit settlements will receive NIS 1.5 billion for reconstruction, which is five times the normal compensation they would receive from the tax administration. This initiative aims to support the affected communities in rebuilding their homes and infrastructure after the devastating attack.

The majority of these funds will go towards three settlements – Kfar Azza, Beeri and Nir Oz – where more than 100 buildings are about to be demolished and 200-300 buildings require significant repairs. Seven additional settlements – Nirim, Reim, Kerem Shalom, Ein HaShlosha, Cholit, Kisufim and Nahal Oz – will also receive tens of millions of shekels for restoration. Each of the ten settlements will have discretion over the funds allocated and make decisions regarding their own recovery process.

The management of Tkum has set two conditions for the allocation of funds: the settlements must enter into a support contract with a licensed management company and at least 60% of the funds must be used for the reconstruction of residential buildings. The remaining settlements affected by the attack on October 7 have already received compensation from the tax administration, and will also receive additional funds to expand the rehabilitation work. This initiative aims to provide financial assistance to those affected by the attacks and help them rebuild their lives.
