SGMC Health Earns Accreditation for Vascular Testing, Addressing Growing Concerns over Cardiovascular Disease and Stroke in the US

SGMC Health is proud to announce that it has received three-year accreditation from the Intersociety Commission on Accreditation (IAC) for vascular testing, covering peripheral arterial testing and extracranial cerebrovascular testing. These testing procedures help in the early detection of heart disorders, stroke and other diseases within the healthcare system.

Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, with one American dying every 34 seconds and nearly 800,000 strokes per year. Timely diagnosis and intervention are crucial in solving these problems. Vascular surgeon David Hardy, MD, RPVI, FACS, highlights SGMC Health’s commitment to providing superior patient care in vascular testing. The health system offers customized treatments and surgeries to meet the needs of the South Georgia community.

Accreditation serves as a symbol of patient safety, demonstrating SGMC Health’s commitment to maintaining high standards of care and continuous improvement. Accreditation demonstrates that a healthcare system has met rigorous standards through a thorough evaluation process that includes self-assessment and review by medical professionals.

SGMC Health’s Accredited Vascular Testing Program can be further explored at sgmc.org for more information about how we are helping patients fight cardiovascular disease with cutting-edge technology and compassionate care.
