The Future of Food and Agriculture: NAA’s Ag on the Mall Showcases Environmental Impact, Amidst Gray Wolf Dispute and Bird Flu Outbreak Concerns

The “Science Act” has passed in the House, and the National Agricultural Aviation Association is currently participating in Ag on the Mall in Washington DC. The bill directs the Department of the Interior to remove endangered species on the protection of the gray wolf, and US Representative Dan Newhouse released a statement regarding the bill. Newhouse stated that while indications show that the gray wolf population has recovered, the administration continues to use the ESA against private landowners.

Meanwhile, at Ag on the Mall, themed The Future of Food and Agriculture, America’s equipment manufacturers, farmers, ranchers, and innovators are focused on environmental impact. The National Agricultural Aviation Association will display a Bell Jet Ranger helicopter equipped with a liquid spray system for applying crop protection materials at the event.

In response to an outbreak of bird flu in dairy cattle in affected states, the U.S. government is collecting ground beef samples from retailers. Despite both Centers for Disease Control and World Health Organization stating that there is low risk to public health overall, it is higher for those who have been exposed to infected animals. However, despite this risk assessment by experts in public health and animal disease control authorities alike, there remains confidence that meat supply security measures are working as intended.
