Ralph Turner has been appointed senior vice president and hospital president at Wellstar MCG Health Medical Center in Augusta, Georgia. Prior to this role, he served as interim senior vice president and president of Wellstar Paulding Medical Center since 2022. With extensive experience in leadership positions within large, complex healthcare organizations such as MedStar Washington Hospital Center, University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics, and Cleveland Clinic, Turner is well-equipped to lead the team at Wellstar MCG Health Medical Center.

Turner holds a doctorate in business administration from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, as well as master’s degrees in health administration and public administration from the University of Maryland and Troy University in Dothan. Prior to beginning his career in healthcare, he spent over 21 years in the US Army and served at Walter Reed Medical Center as Director of the Department of Clinical Engineering.

Wellstar MCG Health Medical Center includes a 478-bed adult hospital, a 154-bed Children’s Hospital of Georgia, the Cancer Center of Georgia and over 80 outpatient clinics in Georgia and South Carolina. Formerly known as Augusta University Health, the medical center is now part of the Wellstar family. Mary Chatman, Wellstar’s executive vice president of acute care operations, praised Turner for his leadership skills in integrating MCG Health team members into the Wellstar organization.
