White Sox left fielder O'Neill leaves the game after colliding with a teammate

During Monday's game between the Boston Red Sox and the Cleveland Guardians, left fielder Tyler O'Neal had to leave the game in the eighth inning after colliding with third baseman Rafael Devers. The incident occurred while both players were trying to catch a shallow pop-up. Devers made the catch as O'Neill collided with him, sending both men to the ground.

As O'Neill sat, he held his face while Devers remained face down. The team's athletic trainer and manager, Alex Cora, rushed to the field to check on them. O'Neill was given a towel to hold to his face as he left the field, while Devers appeared unhurt and remained in the game.

After the game, Cora mentioned that O'Neal had a large gash on his forehead and needed eight stitches. O'Neal will go through the concussion protocol to make sure there are no further injuries. While Devers said he feels fine, he will also undergo the concussion protocol as a precaution.

In response to O'Neal's exit, David Hamilton came in to play shortstop, Rafaela moved to center field and Duran moved from center to left field to accommodate the changes in the lineup. Despite the unfortunate collision, the Red Sox were hoping for a speedy recovery for O'Neal and Devers following the incident.
