As the world’s best sprinters gather in Eugene for the Prefontaine Classic, anticipation is high for a thrilling showdown in the 100 meters. World champions Sha’Carri Richardson and Christian Coleman will face off against tough competition from Julien Alfredo and Marie-Josie Ta Lu. Richardson, who won gold at last year’s World Championships with a time of 10.65, will be looking to defend her title against some of the fastest runners in the world. Meanwhile, Coleman, the current 100m Diamond Trophy holder, will be challenged by Ferdinand Omanjala and Akeem Blake in the men’s race.

In addition to the 100 meters, there will also be fierce competition in the men’s 200 meters at Eugene’s Hayward Field. Errion Knighton, Letsile Tebogo and Kenny Bednarek are all vying for top honors in this event. Knighton, who has a lifetime best of 19.49 and won silver at last year’s World Championships at just 19 years old, will face stiff competition from Tebogo, a talented sprinter from Botswana with a personal best of 19.50. An Olympic silver medalist, Bednarek is known for his versatility in the sprint events and has broken multiple world records in both the 100m and 200m events. The Wanda Diamond League meeting on May 25 promises to be a thrilling showdown between these top athletes as they battle it out on the track for glory.
