The Mayor's Health and Wellness Council (MHVC) in Austin, Texas has partnered with Austin Public Health (APH) to announce the opening of the 2024 MHVC Certified Partner Job Application. This certification recognizes organizations that demonstrate a commitment to implementing best practices that improve health and well-being in their workplaces. Areas of focus include nutrition, physical activity, tobacco-free living, health education, preventive services, policies and programs.
Organizations that obtain the MHVC Partner Certificate will be rewarded for their efforts and will have the opportunity to compete for the mayor's healthiest workplace awards. The application deadline for partner certification and the Healthiest Workplaces Award is July 31, 2024. In addition, this year MHVC will also recognize faith community partners who have met health and wellness goals. Faith communities interested in participating can receive technical assistance from APH to establish and achieve their health and wellness goals.
Founded in 2004, MHVC is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with a mission to make Austin the healthiest community in the country. The Council works to provide community connections, build alliances and support the implementation of best practices and programs to improve well-being. They collaborate with workplaces, schools, faith communities and other strategic partners to promote healthy lifestyles in the Austin area.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of MHVC. Over the past two decades, the Council's initiatives have positively impacted thousands of individuals and families by promoting a healthier environment and instilling a culture of prioritizing health in communities. As they celebrate this milestone, the council reflects on their influential legacy and recommits to their mission of building a healthier and more vibrant Austin for future generations.
