Jeffrey Lewis Scott, 33, was arrested on Wednesday for stealing money from a jar at a Miami Beach business, Local 10 News learned Thursday. Jail records show that he is the man caught on surveillance video earlier this week stealing money from Bagel Time, located at 3915 Alton St. The thief seemed to only want some cash, and made off with $200.

Owner Josh Knodel of Bagel Time told Local 10 on Tuesday that the scammer walked in, went to the counter and asked for a bagel. He then proceeded to take some cash from a jar where they keep large bills. It is not clear why the thief targeted this particular business or why he chose to steal from a jar instead of other options available.

As of Thursday morning, Scott was being held at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $2,500 bond. Previously, when Bagel Time was in the news, it was for someone taking down an Israeli flag which was hanging outside and trampling it three times in a few months. The owner said that this latest incident has been particularly frustrating as it is not related to any political statement or ideology but rather just theft for greed.
