Every year, visually impaired students from the Bronx have the chance to showcase their research projects at the annual science fair held at the New York Institute for Special Education. This year’s theme was “chemical reaction,” and all projects were displayed in Braille to make them accessible to everyone.
One of the students, Nestor Alfonso, expressed his gratitude for being able to participate in the fair despite his visual impairment. He noted that it was a unique opportunity for them to work together with public school students and share their passion for science and innovation.
The science fair provided these students with a platform not only to showcase their projects but also to break down barriers and demonstrate that they are just as capable as their peers.
