Students shared their thoughts on the program and its structure, highlighting the benefits of a hybrid approach that combines online courses with in-person residencies around the globe.

Maggie McKee, a doctoral candidate in the ’20 cohort, appreciated the structure of IDSVA for allowing her to continue working as an international teacher while continuing her studies. She found the online format, combined with the intensive sessions, to be the perfect balance that suited her lifestyle and commitments. Similarly, Monica Bryant of Cohort ’21 praised the program for its hybrid nature, describing it as the ideal doctoral program she would create herself.

For Rikiesha Metzger, a doctoral candidate in the ’19 cohort, the combination of online courses and in-person study at IDSVA has taken her on an amazing journey around the world. Amy Schuessler, another PhD student from the ’20 Cohort, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to travel and study in unique locations like Mexico City, emphasizing the magical experience it provides.
