Yamaha and Lola Cars Join Forces for Electric Formula E Championship Pursuit: Advancing Sustainable Motorsport Technologies

Yamaha Motor Company has announced a new partnership with Lola Cars to compete in the 11th season of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. The iconic motorsport brand, renowned for its numerous championship victories, will collaborate with Yamaha to develop and supply the powertrain for the all-electric single-seater racing series starting in the 2024/25 season.

The president of Lola Cars Ltd, Till Bechtolsheimer, expressed his excitement at the return to Formula E and highlighted the opportunity for technological development. Lola Cars has a history of success in chassis and aerodynamic design, and this project will focus on creating a unique electrified platform with software at its core.

Heiji Maruiama, CEO and director of Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd., emphasized the company’s commitment to sustainability through research and development of new technologies. The partnership with Lola in Formula E represents an opportunity to advance energy management technologies through high-level electric racing, in line with the philosophy of sustainable motorsport of both companies.

Mark Preston, director of motorsport at Lola Cars Ltd, expressed his excitement at the return to Formula E and highlighted the opportunity for technological development. This collaboration aims to drive technological progress in the world of motorsport, using an efficient 350 kV electric drive that serves as the basis for future applications in top international racing.
