Adaptive Sports Northwest recently held its “Get in the Game” Community Building Fundraiser at the Mittleman Community Center in Southwest Portland. For over four decades, this organization has been dedicated to helping physically and visually impaired individuals stay active and engaged. The event brought people together to experience the joy of sports and build a sense of community.

Evita Rasch, an athlete who participated in the event, shared her experience, emphasizing the importance of shared experiences and community among participants. The evening featured a range of adaptive sports, including wheelchair basketball, sitting volleyball, electric soccer, pickleball, running events, swimming and goalball. Attendees had the opportunity to try out these sports and learn new ways to stay active.

CEO Jen Armbruster spoke about the growth of Adaptive Sports Northwest and the positive impact it has had on participants. The organization aims to empower individuals through self-reliance, socialization and independence through connection and inspiration. Griffin Barlow emphasized the importance of inclusivity and support within the community.
