France’s Delphine Cascarino will miss the Planet Cup just after her Lyon club stated on Thursday that she will be sidelined for “a number of months” just after rupturing her anterior cruciate ligament.

Cascarino, who has played 56 games for France, tore her proper ACL in Sunday’s win more than Paris Saint-Germain.

“[Cascarino] underwent tests midweek, which… revealed a partial rupture of the proper anterior cruciate ligament,” Lyon stated in a statement. The French club added that the winger will have to undergo reconstructive surgery and will be out for “a number of months.”

“Sadly, I will not be in a position to participate in the Planet Cup this summer time with my teammates, who I will be rooting for from right here,” Cascarino stated on Instagram.

France, also without the need of Marie-Antoinette Catoto, will be seeking to win their initial Planet Cup at this year’s occasion, hosted by New Zealand and Australia from July 20-Aug. 20.

They commence their campaign in Group F against Jamaica on July 23 prior to facing Brazil and Panama.

France is not the only national group that has suffered significant injuries ahead of the Planet Cup.

The US women’s national group, winners of the final two Planet Cups, will be without the need of strikers Mallory Swanson and Katarina Macario due to knee injuries.

Meanwhile, European champions England are specific to miss captain Lee Williamson and striker Fran Kirby, even though Euro 2022 player Beth Mead is also unlikely to be match just after injuring her ACL final December.
