The South African submission asked the International Court of Justice for new or modified precautionary measures to ensure the safety of the 2.3 million Palestinians in Gaza, including more than a million children. The court ordered Israel to adopt all necessary and effective measures, in coordination with the United Nations, to ensure the uninterrupted and extensive supply of humanitarian aid to the population of Gaza. Israel is obliged to submit a report on the fulfillment of these additional measures within one month.
