Michael Penix had an impressive showing at the Washington Pro Day, where he displayed his athleticism with hand-measured results. He ran a 4.53 in the 40-yard dash, recorded a vertical jump of 36 1/2 inches and a broad jump of 10 feet, 5 inches. During his pitching session, however, Penix felt good but missed several of his 60 attempts.

The New York Giants were present at Penix’s Pro Day to scout him as a potential late first-round pick. Head coach Brian Daboll, offensive coordinator Mike Kafka, quarterbacks coach Shea Tierney and other key people were among those in attendance to evaluate Penix’s performance after his successful two-year stint at UV. With impressive stats under his belt and leading the team to the state title game last season, Penix is expected to be a sought-after player in the upcoming NFL draft.
