New Chapter at Lynchburg Health Center as Richard Tugman takes over as Interim CEO

After three years of leadership, Amy Carrier resigned as CEO of Lynchburg Health Center. This led to the appointment of Richard Tugman as interim CEO, who previously served in that role in 2021. Thomas Nygaard, chairman of the Center’s board of directors, stated that the decision to change leadership was made through respectful discussions with Carrier. He highlighted the dynamic nature of the healthcare industry and pointed out that leadership changes are more common now than in the past.

Tugman is seen as the right person to lead the Center forward, despite the leadership transition. All ongoing projects in the Center’s modernization plan, including the behavioral health and rehabilitation hospital and new medical office building, will continue as planned. The Center also plans to build a new patient care tower to address its need for a larger and updated emergency room. With Tugman as interim executive director, there is no specific time frame for selecting a permanent executive director.

Lynchburg Health Center remains committed to providing quality care and expanding its services to the Lynchburg community as it moves forward with its leadership transition.
