The upcoming total solar eclipse in April 2024 will provide a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for over 30 million people to witness the incredible sight of totality. NASA has carefully mapped the path of totality across the United States, from Texas to Ohio to New York and Maine.

For those lucky enough to be in the path of totality, the experience will be even more breathtaking. But for those who can’t make it into the direct path, there are still ways to witness this celestial event. NASA has created a map that shows the optimal locations and times to view the eclipse from just outside of the direct path.

As the eclipse travels across the country on April 8, 2024, it will pass through Maine and exit by 3:35 PM ET. Unfortunately, this will be everyone’s last chance to see a total solar eclipse in the contiguous US for another 20 years. So if you want to witness this rare event, make sure you plan your viewing location accordingly and don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity!
