Trine University, with its expertise in science and engineering, has announced the launch of a Bachelor of Environmental Science program. The program aims to provide students with the necessary skills to address the environmental challenges facing the planet. Classes for the new program will begin in August.

The Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science will be offered through Trine’s Rinker-Ross School of Health Sciences. The program is designed to prepare students for careers in a variety of fields related to the environment, law, health and safety, or public policy. Lexi Staten, Dean of the Rinker-Ross School of Health Sciences, emphasizes that the program focuses on improving the health of the planet and its inhabitants.

Through hands-on fieldwork and research projects, the degree will equip graduates to work in government agencies, non-profit organizations or private companies as environmental or conservation scientists, environmental educators, lawyers, environmental policy analysts or health professionals and environmental safety. With job growth predicted at above average rates in this field over the next decade by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, a bachelor’s degree in environmental science is poised to provide employment opportunities for graduates.

Trine University has a strong reputation for offering programs that lead to employment opportunities for graduates. Over the past 11 years, more than 99 percent of Trine graduates have been employed or in graduate school within six months of starting.
