On Wednesday morning, a Tennessee driver accidentally crashed his car into a Whiteville Waffle House. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. This is the third time in recent years that a vehicle has collided with a business in the city. The driver, 61-year-old Robin Noe of Kingsport, explained that her foot slipped off the brake and onto the gas pedal while trying to park in front of the Waffle House, causing her to crash through the glass and into the building.
At 3:47 a.m., police were called to the scene in the 1400 block of East Main St. After investigating, they found no evidence of impairment to the driver and did not press charges, deeming the accident a private property incident to be handled by insurance companies.
In February 28th, another similar accident occurred at Wytheville’s Dollar Tree store where two people were injured when a 71-year-old woman mistakenly hit the accelerator instead of the brake pedal, sending her Ford Taurus through the front of Biznes. Despite these occurrences, efforts are being made to ensure public safety and prevent similar accidents from happening again in future.
