The College of Public Health recently recognized and celebrated the achievements of its faculty and staff members during the 2024 Faculty and Staff Awards Ceremony held on April 19. A total of 20 individuals were honored for their outstanding contributions in teaching, research, leadership, and commitment to advancing the college’s mission and values.

Dean Melissa Perry started the ceremony by acknowledging the hard work and dedication of all faculty and staff members, emphasizing how their contributions have helped make the College of Public Health better. She attributed their success to the constant improvement and evolution of the college program, as evidenced by the latest US News & World Report rankings.

A comprehensive list of award winners can be found on the CPH Faculty and Staff Award page. Winners came from various departments within the College, including GCH, HAP, NUTR, SV, Nursing, as well as staff across the College and individuals who received university-wide recognition. Lisa Joyner, Executive Director of Finance and Administration, and Kathy Tompkins, Associate Dean for Faculty and Personnel, presented the awards to each winner individually in their respective categories.

The nomination process for these awards involved submitting candidates by colleagues to department heads who made final decisions on official nominations. An ad hoc committee made up of last year’s winners ultimately determined the award winners. Congratulations were presented to all faculty and staff award winners for their outstanding contributions to the College of Public Health.

These awards recognize not only individual achievements but also highlight teamwork and collaboration among faculty members across departments at CPH. The recipients embody a high level of dedication to excellence in teaching, research, leadership development opportunities that support our institution’s mission.

As we celebrate these accomplishments we should acknowledge that this achievement is not only a testament to our exceptional faculty but also a reflection of our strong commitment to public health education at CPH.

It is important that we continue to recognize these achievements because they help us attract top talent in our field while motivating current faculty members to continue striving for excellence in their work.
